The library at the Madog Center for Welsh Studies

is one of our greatest resources. It contains a variety of fiction and non-fiction books on Welsh subjects, Welsh music and films, collected information on local Welsh immigration and history, family histories and Welsh church information.

Welsh Author Julie McGowan has produced two novels set in Wales. The first, 'The Mountains Between' is in its 3rd edition and has been a regional best-seller in Wales. It is the saga spanning the years from 1929-1949 and tells the story of two families living on either side of the Blorenge mountain, which separates the mining town of Blanenavon from the rural setting of Abergavenny.

The second is 'Don't Pass Me By' tells the story of a group of evacuees from London who end up in a small village outside Swansea during WWII. The village is fictional but the story includes the story of the Swansea blitz. More information about Julie's books is available at

We have recently received a large number of books for the library from Dr. David Henkel from  the University of New Mexico, which he used for his research into the agriculture of Wales. These have been catalogued through our Davis Library. The list includes a variety of rare books. Please contact us for specific titles.
